Passages that Show the Law Changing

Passages that Show the Law Changing

"The Law and the Prophets were proclaimed until John".

Luk 16:16 "The Law and the Prophets were proclaimed until John. Since that time, the good news of the kingdom of God is being preached, and everyone is forcing their way into it.

Added until the Seed would come”.

Gal 3:19 Then why the Torah? It was added because of wrongdoings until the Seed would come—to whom the promise had been made. It was arranged through angels by the hand of an intermediary.

"the law was our guardian until Christ".

Gal 3:24-25 So the law was our guardian until Christ came that we might be justified by faith. (25) Now that this faith has come, we are no longer under a guardian.

"Christ is the culmination".

Rom 10:4, Christ is the culmination of the law so that there may be righteousness for everyone who believes.

"because you are not under the law"

Rom 6:14 For sin shall no longer be your master, because you are not under the law, but under grace.

"setting aside in the flesh the law with it's commands and regulations".

Eph 2:14-15 For he himself is our peace, who has made the two groups one and has destroyed the barrier, the dividing wall of hostility, (15) by setting aside in his flesh the law with its commands and regulations. His purpose was to create in himself one new humanity out of the two, thus making peace,

"how much more glorious is the ministry that brings righteousness"

"how much greater is the glory of that which lasts"

2 Cor 3:9-11 If the ministry that brought condemnation was glorious, how much more glorious is the ministry that brings righteousness! (10) For what was glorious has no glory now in comparison with the surpassing glory. (11) And if what was transitory came with glory, how much greater is the glory of that which lasts!

"The former regulation is set aside".

Heb 7:18-19 The former regulation is set aside because it was weak and useless (19) (for the law made nothing perfect), and a better hope is introduced, by which we draw near to God.

"the oath, which came after the law, appointed the Son".

Heb 7:28 For the law appoints as high priests men in all their weakness; but the oath, which came after the law, appointed the Son, who has been made perfect forever.

"regulations applying until the time of the new order.".

Heb 9:10 They are only a matter of food and drink and various ceremonial washings--external regulations applying until the time of the new order.

"they would not have stopped being offered?".

Heb 10:1-2 The law is only a shadow of the good things that are coming--not the realities themselves. For this reason it can never, by the same sacrifices repeated endlessly year after year, make perfect those who draw near to worship. (2) Otherwise, would they not have stopped being offered? For the worshipers would have been cleansed once for all, and would no longer have felt guilty for their sins.

"setting aside in His flesh the law with its commands and regulations".

Eph 2:14-15 For he himself is our peace, who has made the two groups one and has destroyed the barrier, the dividing wall of hostility, (15) by setting aside in his flesh the law with its commands and regulations. His purpose was to create in himself one new humanity out of the two, thus making peace,

"He sets aside the first to establish the second".

Heb 10:5-9 Therefore, when Christ came into the world, he said: "Sacrifice and offering you did not desire, but a body you prepared for me; (6) with burnt offerings and sin offerings you were not pleased. (7) Then I said, 'Here I am--it is written about me in the scroll-- I have come to do your will, my God.'" (8) First he said, "Sacrifices and offerings, burnt offerings and sin offerings you did not desire, nor were you pleased with them"--though they were offered in accordance with the law. (9) Then he said, "Here I am, I have come to do your will." He sets aside the first to establish the second.
